Obituary of Richard Walter Brownfield Jr.Richard Walter Brownfield Jr.
July 31, 1947 – June 5, 2022

Richard W. Brownfield, Jr. lovingly known as “Grumpy” to his family and friends passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 5, 2022. He was 74.

Rick was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and moved to Rocky River, Ohio where he met the love of his life, Donna-Lee Brixner. Rick went on to graduate from Bucknell University with a degree in Economics in 1969.

He started his career at GE as a project manager in Daytona Beach, Florida and was still doing what he loved as a Project Manager on the AGTS team for Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida. Rick also served in the National Guard.

Rick’s favorite pastime was being with family, whether that was traveling around the world, playing golf, or just being together. Rick was not only known as Grumpy to those around him, but he was also our Top Gun, our Superman, our Gentle Giant. He made the world brighter for the people around him and touched the lives of many. He was a selfless, devoted patriarch of our family, a leader, and a friend to all.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Richard W. Brownfield Sr. and Clara Jane Brownfield, and his in-laws Maria Luisa and Robert F. Brixner.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna-Lee Brownfield, his daughters Michele Tauscher, Carley Kelly, Kristen Harmon, his son-in-laws Rick Tauscher, Colin Kelly and Zane Harmon, his grandchildren Heather Shuta (Anthony), Ricky Tauscher, Corinne Barker, Casey Barker, Paul Meesala, Ryan Kelly, Zach Kelly, Alyson Kelly, Peyton Harmon, Hannah Harmon, and his sister Linda Brownfield-Gallant, brother-in-law Larry Brixner, as well as a large extended family who loved him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the National Cremation Society on June 18, 2022, from 1pm-3pm. The address is 7565 Red Bug Lake Road, Oviedo, Florida 32765.

Flowers can be sent to the National Cremation Society at the above address or in lieu of, please consider a donation to The National Fragile X Foundation in memory of Richard Brownfield for his grandson Peyton Harmon.

I was so sorry to learn about Rick. He was such a nice guy. Very friendly and kind.

Susan Elizabeth Blouch

Donna, in high school we shared the same homeroom, and we fell for guys we married. You were blessed with children and grand children in your 54 years together. As you work through the pain, smile at your memories together. I am sorry for your loss.
