Obituary for John Hargadine Carson Jr.
John H. Carson, Jr. (known to many as Jack) passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018, at the age of 71 years. John will be forever remembered by his wife, Donna, his daughters, Jenny and Leigh, and his grandchildren. Born in Ohio, John attended Lehigh University where he received his PhD. As a professor at George Washington University, John taught Information Systems and Technology Management and was a mentor to many students over the years. When not working on computers, John was known to scour the Lee Creek Mine in North Carolina and the Badlands National Park in South Dakota for fossils. John will be remembered for his wry sense of humor and passion for teaching. John will be laid to rest in a private service on November 1st.

So sorry to learn of Jack's passing. Particularly disturbing as Jack and I were exactly the same age: we shared a birthday. I think our moms each promoted the story that we were both born in the same hospital on that day in July all those years ago, sharing space in the same maternity nursery. Rest in peace Jack.

I just learned about Jack's passing. He was my very first friend way back in 1st or 2nd grade at Beach Elementary. We kept up sporadically over the years. We played racketball at lunchtime when I was in D.C. and we talked the last time when he called to wish me a happy 65th. As boys we built a high jumping setup and spent hours jumping in our back yards. Even in Junior High he was a tinkerer with radios and electronics and it ultimately led to him getting a PhD in that field. A very smart guy and a good friend.. RIP Jack.
